There’s one thing we look for when visiting Bangkok and that’s a good bar, with great views and wicked cocktails! Every time we go back to the city we look for a new rooftop bar to escape the hustle and bustle of the crazy streets below. The streets are chaotic and navigating Bangkok can be tricky especially when being hailed by suit shop owners and having “tuk-tuk” shouted at you all day (all part of the fun of course!) Don’t get me wrong as much as we love the atmosphere in Bangkok by sunset we’re ready for a break from the hot, crowded and sometimes smoggy streets below!

Here’s a list of the best rooftop bars in Bangkok as well as our own personal favourites!

Vertigo Grill And Moon BarRooftop bar Bangkok

This rooftop bar is a firm favourite of ours, it’s a little on the pricey side but the views and drinks more than make up for it. The bar is situated on the 61st floor of the Banyan Tree Hotel and it’s our favourite way to end a long day after exploring hidden temples and bustling street markets. The restaurant and bar are both alfresco and offer up fantastic 360 degree views of the city! The restaurant serves up delicious grilled seafood and premium steaks while the bar and its team of mixologists put together a range of thirst-quenching cocktails! The bar area can get a little busy but the soft lighting and comfortable seats make for a relaxed atmosphere.

Skytrain Jazz BarFunky seating and BTS train from Bangkok rooftop bar

This eclectic bar is very different to the others listed in the post, but if you fancy going somewhere a little more laid back where the drinks are cheaper and the decor is quirky then you can’t beat this bar. It’s only on the six floor so won’t offer the same views as the other bars, but it’s right next to the BTS line and very near the Victory Monument Station so it offers an alternative view of an iconic part of Bangkok. There is mismatched retro furniture both inside and out on the roofed terrace, which may leave you thinking you have accidentally stumbled into a student’s digs. Once you get settled with a drink, soak up the chilled atmosphere, enjoy the music (that isn’t always jazz) and you can even order some Thai food if hunger strikes.

This bar isn’t that easy to find as it’s located down a tiny alleyway just a few metres from the start of Rang Nam Road, just off the main Phaya Thai Road. You will see a hand written sign for the bar a couple of metres down the alley and just above the entrance, then walk up the 6 flights of graffiti covered stairs until you find the bar, it’s worth the effort so you can head somewhere that little bit different.

Address –  located on the 6th Floor of Jo Home Gallery, at the start of Rang Nam Road (just off the main Phaya Thai Road), Ratchathewi, Bangkok

Prices

Expect to pay around 220 baht for a cocktail
